​Race Committee Instructions

 1.  Set the pin.
2.  Determine the wind direction.   Sight a line from your stern of the boat to the pin at  90 degrees to the wind as you move your    
     boat the  length of all the boats put together plus two more from the pin.  Then set the anchor .
3.  Set the yellow on station flag designating you as the race committee.
4.  Set the postpone flag.
5.  Determine wind direction.  (Races should start dead into the wind for everyone to have a fair start.)  Determine the race course.      This is decided according to the wind conditions for races to last approximately 45 min to 1 hour.
6.  Hoist the fleet flag on top of the race course flags on one of your halyards.
7.  Countdown:
                                7 minutes before start:  give two blasts of the horn.
                                6 minutes before start:  douse the postpone flag.
                                5 minutes before start:  raise the fleet flag.
                                4 minutes before start:  raise the preparatory flag  
                                1  minute before start  :  drop the preparatory flag
                                0 at start                         :  drop the fleet flag and record the time
                                Wind Speed                    : log three wind speed readings to determine average wind speed 
                                Finishers                        :  record the time for each boat when any part of the boat crosses the line
                                Protests                          :  when notified, log down protests and notify the race committee to hold a protest meeting
                                Results & Equipment   :  return equipment and hand in results to the race committee chairman
